I’ve Been Hanging Pots Around

One of the other inspirations I took from Juniper Level Botanic Garden were their latch pot hangers.

Karen and I have been looking for a way to mount pots around our porch.  The versions I’ve found have been a metal ring that the pot rests in.  They’ve been a bit pricey, and as you gardeners know, terra cotta pots come in all shapes and sizes.  The ring would hold versions of the roughly same sized container at different heights.  Not the best scenario if you have lots of pots already.

But, the hangers I saw at the botanic garden on a back patio were perfect.  They’re mostly invisible because they rely on holding the pot by the lip much like when you pick a pot up with your thumb holding the inside rim and the outside resting on your pointer finger.

I asked Tony where he found him, and he shared the link.  I ordered 12 for around $12, a dollar per hanger!

They came and I found them really easy to mount.  I eschewed the screws that came with them in favor of a two-inch long exterior wood screw for more grip.  I mounted all 12 by our garage, and I did a little giddy dance because it looked so good once finished!

These hangers allow a gardener to add some great accents to homes, fences, or even lone posts in the garden.  Right now, I have succulents set in them, but come fall I’m planning for pansies, Erysimum, and maybe even some green edibles like lettuce.  Now, I’m looking for more places to hang pots around.

The finished product at our house! I’m so proud! If you install these over each other like I did, take caution watering because it will drip from the pot onto the plants below.
